I love food. I love to cook. I love to eat. And one of the many things that's wonderful about my sister is that she does too. My sister makes tasty food, and she knows about the tasty places in Oakland. And as we're mostly just hanging out and living together for a few days, we're doing a lot of eating at home, and a little outing here and there. So, without further fuss, I present to you a photographic journal of tasty things my sister and I consumed during my visit, mostly in Oakland.

My sister makes the best breakfast tacos.
Can't believe I didn't invent this: thick, soft corn tortilla, cheese, fried egg, salsa. |
|
My sister also makes amazing pie. And posts pictures of them on FB, when I am too far away to eat it.
This is her famed Apple Berry Pie (crust from scratch, of course). It's good right out of the oven for dessert, and right out of the refrigerator for breakfast and snack. Normally I put a lot more whipped cream on it, but I thought I'd let the pie shine in this photo. |

My sister's lasagna, paired with the Barbera I purchased at Marchesi in Hood River, OR.
Good match. |

My last night in Oakland, we had a BBQ. And since it was raining, this meant slow-cooked pulled pork on slider buns. So cute, so tasty. |

Tastiness at Grand Avenue Thai, Oakland
The fried rice was very yummy, and my sister's Thai BBQ steak was also really good. I liked my noodle dish, and the leftovers also provided me with a few breakfasts this week. |

One night we met a friend in San Francisco and dined at Tandoor on Haight. I was told that they have the best garlic naan (true), and that everything is really good (also true, based on the things we ordered that night). Not-too-big portions that were served family style, and a nice, bright atmosphere. Worth the trip into the city. |
Oh, and the first night I was there, we ate a hella ton of sushi at
Park Sushi (aka Sushi Park, which makes me imagine a large green space filled with nigiri sculptures). It was good.
