Beaver?

Nope - gotcha!
This is a bear outside the bank next to Taprock Northwest Grill
Taprock loves bears.

They use them to decorate their front doors:

Fortunately, they do not use them on their menu. As food, that is. I sat at the bar, which looks like a bar in a not-too-cheesy lodge-themed hotel. I had a local pale ale and their artichoke-crab dip. Watched Sports Center. The bartender was very competent and friendly, but respectfully not-annoying, and I watched him greet regulars and out-of-towners alike. It was a decent place to have dinner on a stop-over; too bad the sun was down so I couldn't enjoy the view of the Rogue River flowing right outside the door off the large deck. It was also one of the very few places in this town that was open for dinner on Sunday night. And that wasn't a cheesy Chinese-American or Mexican restaurant. I miss Merchant already.
